It's Spring

I know this isn’t a Facebook page for “fun” stuff, but today I felt a bit of a relief with getting done the first of my spring projects, and so I decided to write about it and share with my three or so readers.

The first picture is the visible evidence of spring, the tree out front was glorious in bloom this week.  And, you might notice, even the grass is cut.  Unseen is the grass nearer the street, which is better described as mud, as the heavy spring rains and winter kill-off ruined a large swathe of lawn.  That also I tended, laying down fresh topsoil and spraying on new seed.  We’ll see how that turns out later this summer, or if I have to sod.
I’ve made plans for a couple of charity golf outings this summer, and am searching for perhaps a couple more.  I really don’t want to do any weekly golf, but I do enjoy getting out and looking silly as I lose balls in the woods or the water ---- but, of course, those are only the balls which got too dirty, and I hate to use that insanitary ball washer thingee.
The REAL trigger of spring, however, was an event accomplished today.  I took down my Easter Tree and all the associated decorations around the house.  I know, everyone who drops by (not a large number of people, so I don’t care what they think) thinks that it was a Christmas tree.  But that’s silly.  Everyone knows the Christmas season is long over.  This was an Easter tree, as evidenced by the spike ornament which hung from the tree.  Yes, it closely resembled by Christmas tree is all other aspects, but then again the Easter holiday does also.  One is a celebration of God’s birth, and one a celebration of His re-birth, or Resurrection.  It makes sense to me, and I really can’t help if it doesn’t make sense to others.
You may not understand why this picture is one of spring, but that plant does.  It sat in a dark corner of the dining room since early December, and today it was again placed in front of the front room window.  Can you see it smiling?  I assure you it is happy, but it is in for an even greater surprise when I take it outside on the deck in a few weeks.  It will have blooms all over it in a matter of weeks.  It loves being outside.
After all, it’s Spring.

  2. Well, I'm glad you find some joy in the words God gives me, Kathleen, and perhaps even in the silly ones I write myself --- like on this post. I don't write all the inspirations I perceive here, my spiritual director has me keeping a journal also, but sometimes I just know it is right for me to write things down to share. Perhaps somehow God will make use of it to benefit some others, even if only to entertain.

I pray you have a blessed day, and always find joy in it.
